Ductile fracture simulation of cold-formed high strength steel using GTN damage model

The use of high strength steel (HSS) cold-formed hollow section is significant interest in the construction sector due to competitive costs. accurate simulation ductile fracture failure at micro and macro scale critical for improving validity predicting structural behaviour HSS sections welded joints. In this study, S700 material studied using Gurson-Tvergaard-Needleman (GTN) damage model. Representative volume element (RVE) models with void fraction (VVF) between 0.1% 30% are employed investigate pressure dependency deviatoric limit stress. Different load conditions corresponding different stress triaxiality levels applied unit cells random spherical pores. inelastic response analysed, parameters q1, q2, q3 GTN yield surface calibrated. An equation proposed determine parameter q1 VVFs. VVF fc final ff calibrated by coupon test from literature. Finally, model validated against notched tests. finite (FE) results show good agreement experimental results, indicating that identified could efficiently predict HSS.
